2019 Summer Experience - Creative Concepts: Writing and Illustrating Your Own Children’s Book

This event is no longer on sale.

Monday August 5

9:00 AM  –  4:00 PM

(4-8 Grades)

August 5-9, 2018

Students will begin their program by learning about, and participating in, the Museum's "All Behaviors Count" program and a "Building My Universe of Obligation" workshop. They will engage in several teambuilding activities, creative writing workshops and will spend time reading books that perpetuate the narrative of inclusivity, respect and upstander actions. Then, students write and illustrate their own story on a similar topic. Students will leave the program with a written and illustrated hard cover book of their design. They will learn how to follow a story arc, write their own biography and develop their characters. Their culminating experience will be an open mic reading event showcasing their work for parents and community on Friday, August 9, 2019.
