2019 Summer Experience - Model United Nations (MUN)

This event is no longer on sale.

Monday July 15

9:00 AM  –  4:00 PM

(6-12 Grades)

July 15-19, 2019

All MUN programs have specific common goals:

Providing a deeper understanding of multilateral diplomacy, strengthening negotiating and leadership skills and improving one's ability to anticipate evolving scenarios of complex issues. As in all MUN meetings, our participants are required to act like real UN delegates partaking in sessions of various UN committees. Each participant in a committee represents a different country. The delegate must work, faithfully respecting the assigned country's standpoint, to obtain the approval of documents that favor the assigned country and the collective interest.

Students will tour the Museum, learn about contemporary genocides, research present genocides, examine the UN definition of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and hold sessions to evaluate, update and enforce the Convention. The new Human Rights Gallery will be an integral part of this program, as will the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Participants will present a Model UN Session as the culminating project on the last day of the program, Friday, July 19, 2019.
