Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) invites you to a private screening of Judgement at Nuremberg. In this courtroom drama set in 1947, four German judges who served on the bench during the Nazi regime face a military tribunal to answer charges of crimes against humanity. Chief Justice Haywood (Spencer Tracy) hears evidence and testimony not only from lead defendant Ernst Janning (Burt Lancaster) and his defense attorney Hans Rolfe (Maximilian Schell), but also from the widow of a Nazi general (Marlene Dietrich), an idealistic U.S. Army captain (William Shatner) and reluctant witness Irene Wallner (Judy Garland). In 2013, Judgment at Nuremberg was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Following the film, a presentation will be led by three renown speakers with expertise in criminal law or war law.

In partnership with South Texas College of Law Houston, the Civil Society Film Series is eligible for 1.5 CLE credits (including 0.5 ethics credit) per film.

Featured Speaker:

  • Catherine Greene Burnett - VP, Assoc. Dean, Professor of Law, South Texas College of Law Houston

Registration includes a six-month HMH membership. To register for all three films at a discounted rate or for more information, please contact Rocio Rubio at rrubio@hmh.org or 713-527-1638.
