Celebrate African American History Month at the Museum as we explore family histories and genealogy.
This full day of learning sessions is brought to you through a partnership between the Houston Public Library, Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research (HPL/CLA); the Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc., Willie Lee Gay H-Town Chapter (AAHGS); the Clayton LIbrary Friends (CLF) and Holocaust Museum Houston.
Each learning session is designed to offer resources and records for family history research. Celebrating African American History month, the presentations will highlight not only specific research, but broad concepts that can be applied to any family history research project.
The day offers 4 lectures by nationally recognized genealogical lectures, Ari Wilkins from Dallas, TX and Sharon Batiste Gillins from Galveston, TX. These excellent speakers have lectured at national, state and local genealogy conferences and meetings, and are both recognized as leaders in the field of African American family history research.
This full day is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Museum. Attendees are invited to join us at 9:00 a.m. for a pre-workshop session across the street at Clayton Library Carriage House (5300 Caroline St, Houston, TX 77004).
