Join us as Israeli journalist Dvir Bar-Gal shares his decades of research into the story of the Shanghai Ghetto, and how it served not only as a refuge for European Jews, but also became an important center for Jewish culture and history in an uncertain time.

In 1930’s Nazi Germany, Jews and other communities targeted by the Reich found themselves desperate to find refuge in foreign lands. Due to antisemitism and strict immigration laws at that time, many Jews were trapped and unable to escape to safety. One of the few, and one of the most unknown places in which Jews were able to find shelter, was the Chinese Port City of Shanghai.
